BOYDS, Md. – While the first day of the 2025 Collegiate Rugby Championship National 7s had plenty of upsets, the trend continued on day two. In Women’s Division III, top seed Yale was upended 12-10 by No. 8 seed Mira Costa in the East region.
In Sunday’s semifinals No. 5 seed East Stroudsburg will take on No. 6 seed Baldwin Wallace at 10 a.m. while the West Region will see No. 1 seed Endicott will take on No. 3 seed Drury approximately 20 minutes later.
After defeating the Bulldogs, Mira Costa dropped a 19-7 decision to East Stroudsburg who opened their tournament with a 19-0 shutout of Siena. In the other half of the bracket, Baldwin Wallace trailed 7-0 before embarking on a 17-0 run on its way to a 17-12 victory over No. 2 seed Wisconsin-Platteville. The Yellow Jackets opened their day with a 22-12 win against York that featured a hat trick by Molly Canican
In the West Bracket, top-seeded Endicott picked up a 30-7 win over Middlebury before earning a 22-21 decision over Colorado Mines. The Gulls trailed 21-12 in the second half before going on a 10-0 run and clinching the victory with a try at the death.
Drury, making their first CRC National 7s appearance, opened the tournament with a 33-12 victory over Gannon before earning a 26-21 win over Niagara on the back of an Amber Shetter hat trick. The Purple Eagles advanced to the quarterfinals with a 12-7 win over Western Oregon.
The scoring and tries lead in the division after one day of competition are in a tie. Both Cancian of Baldwin Wallace and Shetter of Drury lead with five tries after two games.
