Women’s DI Recap

Oregon, West Virginia, and Florida State are all making their first appearances in this year’s tournament. First timer Bri Alston (FSU) ended Saturday’s series of matches with 25 points on the day, making her the division’s top scorer.

The St. Bonaventure Bonnies, however, were met with a not-so-warm welcome, starting their first Division I tournament appearance with a narrow 10-17 loss to Oregon. After receiving their championship title during 15s Nationals in the fall, All Americans Makenna Ramsey, Kayla Nentarz and the rest of the Bonnies will play in Sunday’s bowl bracket against North Carolina at 12:00 p.m.

The stage is set for Sunday’s competition, with Clemson facing Oregon to play the winner of Claremont versus Ohio State. Both of these matches will surely keep audiences on the edges of their seats. During day one, Clemson nearly shut out Boston College (24-7), and came out on top of the University of Iowa by a comfortable margin (19-10). Oregon’s win over St. Bonaventure was accompanied by a shutout of Boise State (17-0). Semifinalists Claremont also participated in a shutout, beating Northern Iowa 14-0.

Women’s Division I semifinal matches kick off on the stadium field at 1:00 p.m., with the championship match taking place at 4:35 p.m. Games streaming on The Rugby Network, as well as NCR’s YouTube channel.
