Minutemen, Rams, Cards, Wolfpack Still in DI Club Chase

While the upsets began in the opening round of Men’s Division I Club, there were fewer surprises than the other Divisions. Saturday in the final of the East Region, it will be No. 4 seed UMass taking on No. 2 seed West Chester at 1:15 p.m. E.T. In the West, top-seeded Louisville faces off with No. 2 N.C. State 20 minutes later.

Top seed Louisville opened its day with a 29-0 win over James Madison. The Cardinals then claimed a 21-12 victory over Claremont.

They will face off in the semis against N.C. State. The Wolfpack had their own shutout with a 31-0 victory over Temple in round one and picked up a 21-10 win against Tennessee in the quarterfinals.

In the East region, UMass opened its day with a 35-14 victory over Mizzou before earning a dramatic 20-19 win against top-ranked South Carolina. The Minutemen trailed 19-5 at the intermission but recorded a trio of tries in the second stanza to earn the victory at the death.

They will meet UNC-Charlotte who opened their day with a 22-15 victory over Maryland before picking up a 24-22 win. The 49ers trailed 22-12 in the second half of their matchup with the Terrapins before closing the game on a 12-0 run to earn their own victory at the death.

For Day One, Anton Ojanguren of Oregon State leads the tournament with 30 points on four tries and five conversions. His teammate Nico Dreier leads the division in tries with five, including a hat-trick against Maryland.

All matches are streamed on TRN and YouTube.
