Men’s Premier Cup Bid on Offer in Terrapins 7s

It’s officially spring break season across the country, and qualification for the Collegiate Rugby Championship will center around men’s qualifiers over the next three weeks before action ramps up at the end of March with multiple men’s and women’s qualifiers each weekend.

Terrapins 7s Saturday in College Park, Maryland is the second of five-consecutive national open qualifiers for the men’s Premier Cup. The 10-team field will be split into two pools, with the champion of each advancing to the tournament final.

Headlining Pool 1 is defending CRC champion Kutztown. The Bears entered two even sides into the Frostbite 7s in February, tying Brown on day one before falling to the reigning 15s national champs in the final, 12-7. Also lurking in Pool 1 are Notre Dame College, Southern Virginia, Delaware and Salisbury.

The top seed in Pool 2 is Wheeling, champions of the Pitt Dome 7s February 18. The Cardinals went undefeated in the tournament, beating Notre Dame College 45-0 in the final. Joining Wheeling in Pool 2 are St. Bonaventure, Nazareth, Maryland and Rowan.

After round robin play, the winner of each pool will play the championship game, with the winner earning an automatic bid to the Premier Cup.
