Women’s Teams Fight for DI Club Bids

This Saturday, April 23, three conferences will host their championship 7s tournaments with the winners receiving automatic bids to the Division I Club championship in New Orleans.

The Midwest conference automatic qualifier will be hosted by University of Northern Iowa. UNI has already qualified for May Madness 7s, but look out for Iowa State University. ISU is looking to be the top competitor. However, University of Wisconsin-Madison has had a great season up to now, so they could be looking to challenge. This is a strong conference, so two seeds have been awarded for the Division I cup, making ISU and UW-Madison the top contenders.

At the Mid-America qualifier, the University of Missouri is the front runner  to qualify for 7s nationals for the first time. Local tournaments so far have been fairly even, but the Tigers are excited to compete on Saturday in Columbia.

University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire will be the top contender for the Great Waters conference seed. They have gone undefeated all season and won the first leg of the Midwest conference qualifier. UW-Eau Claire has also been dominating at local tournaments, making them a heavy favorite for the first of two Great Waters seeds. Marquette University has also been doing well this season and is targeting a top two finish.
