April 19 - Three-fourths of last year’s semi finalists return in Men’s Small College, with the outlier being reigning national champion New Mexico Tech. This 18-team field is split between six pools of three, with the winner of each and the top two second-place teams advancing to the quarterfinals.
2022 runner-up Christendom College looks like the team to beat in Pool A, but Southern Conference champion Coastal Carolina and SUNY Geneseo won’t be pushovers. In Pool B, Babson is the headliner led by All-American Reed Santos. Western Oregon is also a contender, and Richmond comes in having finished right behind Christendom in the Cardinal. Pool C pits MARC champion Susquehanna with John Carroll and New England Wide winner Springfield.
Colonial Coast champion Endicott appears eager to improve their semifinal exit last year. Paired in Pool D with the Gulls are the Central College Dutch, a wrestling team with a rugby problem who lost to Wayne State on an intercept try in the final of their qualifier, and Colorado School of Mines, champions of the High Peaks. The aforementioned Wayne State Wildcats are the slight favorites in Pool E over reigning 15s champion Cal Poly Humboldt and Great Midwest champion Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Pool F pits NERFU champion Maine with MARC runner-up Loyola and Allegheny champion Wabash.
