14 Qualify for CRC Across 8 Divisions

On the penultimate weekend of qualification, 14 teams earned automatic bids to the Collegiate Rugby Championship, April 26-28 in Boyds, MD. Teams will continue to qualify through Sunday April 14, and all 144 teams and eight brackets will be revealed during the Selection Saturday Show at 7 p.m. ET on The Rugby Network.

Host Michigan won the Wolverine 7s Saturday in Ann Arbor, MI, defeating Ohio State in the final to earn a bid to the Women’s Premier Cup bracket and claim the Big Ten’s conference 7s title.

South Carolina was the only team to qualify for the men’s Premier Cup over the weekend, defeating Kentucky in the final of the Southeastern Collegiate Rugby Conference Championships in Knoxville, TN.

The penultimate stop on the eight-tournament qualifier series, Monumental 7s in Quincy, MA, didn’t produce a qualifying team, as Kutztown defeated Babson in the final, 36-19, and both the Golden Bears and Beavers had already earned bids.

Memphis won the SCRC Division II title, besting Tennessee Tech to punch its ticket to Maryland. Joining the Tigers are the Reds from Miami (OH), winners of the Mooseman 7s open qualifier in Murfreesboro, TN.

In Women’s DII, Arkansas beat Central Missouri to win the Mid-America Championship, Syracuse won the Allegheny/Upstate, and Columbia claimed the Tri-State title, all earning automatic qualification.

In Men’s Small College, Richmond, Loyola (MD) and Providence won open regional qualifiers in Pittsburgh, PA, Lewiston, NY, and Wellesley, MA, respectively, to earn CRC bids.

Missouri Science & Technology takes the Mid America’s Women’s Small College bid, South Dakota is the Prairie states champion, Western Oregon won the Cascades, and Siena claimed the Tri-States title.
