Huskies, Panthers, Boilermakers, Hawkeyes Survive Saturday in Women’s DI Club
On day one of women’s Division I Club competition, both number one seeds advanced to the semifinals, but the lower half of the bracket contained a pair of surprises. Out West, top seed Northeastern will take on No. 6 seed Northern Iowa at 11:45 a.m. E.T. while the East semifinal features top seed Purdue taking on the No. 3 seed Iowa Hawkeyes.
Minutemen, Rams, Cards, Wolfpack Still in DI Club Chase
While the upsets began in the opening round of Men’s Division I Club, there were fewer surprises than the other Divisions. Saturday in the final of the East Region, it will be No. 4 seed UMass taking on No. 3 seed UNC-Charlotte at 1:15 p.m. E.T. In the West, top-seeded Louisville faces off with No. 2 N.C. State 20 minutes later.
New Champ to be Crowned in Women’s DII
It would appear nobody is safe from the theme of upsets this weekend, as another top seed fell in the Women’s Division II. This time it was defending National Champion Wisconsin-Eau Claire, knocked off New Mexico State, 19-15.
Wheeling Back-to-Back Champs
Thirty-two teams entered the weekend hoping to hoist the Pete Dawkins trophy and be named the best men’s collegiate 7s team in the country. After two days of big scores, big hits, big upsets and big-time moments, the number-one overall seed Wheeling Cardinals successfully defended their title, with a 19-5 win over the St. Bonaventure Bonnies.
