Top Seeds Advance in Men’s DIII
Division III was all chalk, with the top two seeds in each region advancing to the semifinals. The East will feature No. 1 Slippery Rock dueling with No. 2 Springfield College at 11:55 a.m. E.T. Out West, top-seeded Wisconsin-Eau Claire will take on No. 2 Duke in the other semifinal.
Wheeling Lone 1 Seed Standing in Premier Cup
The first round was mostly chalk in the Men’s Premier Cup at the Collegiate Rugby Championship. 14 of the top 16 seeds survived their first opponent. As the day wore on, however, the upsets began to pile up. When the dust settled, the only top-seed remaining was the Wheeling Cardinals.
Women’s DI Preview
Big Ten champion Purdue is the top seed in the East, and Northeastern is No 1 in the West, but this is arguably the most competitive division in the entire Collegiate Rugby Championship, with every conference in the country represented. Evidenced by last year’s champion and runner-up, Claremont Colleges and Oregon, coming in as two and four seeds, respectively.
Women’s DII Preview
Wisconsin Eau Claire enters its national title defense as the top seed in the East Region, boasting a trio of All-Americans in Cerys Ridd, Khloee Chamberlain and Cerys Ridd. If the Blugolds come good Sunday, they’ll claim their fourth national title in three years between 15s and 7s.
Women’s DIII Preview
Reigning champion Yale returns as the East’s top seed in Women’s Division III. The Bulldogs rode the momentum of a second-round upset of 2023 champion Endicott to the title last year. They’ve gone up against Endicott three times this spring, The April 12th rematch at the final of the North Atlantic qualifier went to the Gulls, 17-12.
Women’s Premier Cup Preview
Back-to-back defending champion Brown comes in as the top seed in the West. If the Bears are to three-peat, they’ll have to do it without reigning MVP Kate Muldoon, who is out with injury. But the force of nature that is Akilah Cathy is healthy and ready to rumble.
